National Minimum Wages Rates – 2016

The Low Pay Commission – the independent advisory body to the Government – reviews the national minimum wage according to inflation on an annual basis.

The rates that come into force from 1 October 2016 are:

For workers aged 25 and over, the national living wage, which was introduced in April 2016, will remain at £7.20
The adult rate for workers aged 21 to 24 will rise from £6.70 to £6.95 per hour
The development rate for workers aged 18 to 20 will rise from £5.30 to £5.55 per hour
The 16-17 year old rate will rise from £3.87 to £4.00 per hour
The apprentice rate will rise from £3.30 to £3.40 per hour
